Cindy Keeping was the fastest qualifier from last week’s heats of the Listed Ladbrokes Chief Havoc Gunnedah Cup and delivered a brilliant come-from-behind performance in the final on Sunday 9th June, 2024.
Exiting from box six, the Charmaine Roberts-trained chaser positioned herself ideally in fourth spot, heading into the back straight, with eventual runner-up Miss Zig Zag taking control of proceedings upon box rise. The daughter of Mogambo and Caitlyn Keeping showed her strength in the home straight, to claim victory by a length, recording a time of 29.99 for the 527m journey. Miss Zig Zag for, Sydney Swain, finished second, with local chaser, Franky Bear for trainer, Jamie Bush, placing third.
It was Cindy Keeping’s 10th career win, with the $40,000 in prizemoney, taking her total earnings to $82,845.
