Social Media Guidelines

The GBOTA strongly encourages and embraces contributions on our social media platforms, as a means to stay informed, share information and assist in the positive promotion of the greyhound racing industry. The GBOTA expects posts, comments and messages to be respectful, reliable, relevant and safe at all times.
We may hide or delete comments that moderators consider to be:
- Abusive, offensive or unlawful: Harassment, bullying or provoking other members of the public, officials, participants, governing bodies and/or any Directors and/or staff of the GBOTA, contain swearing, the use of derogatory language and expression of views that are racist, sexist, homophobic, predatory or sexually explicit are not acceptable. Posts we deem to be potentially defamatory or that violate privacy laws will be removed immediately without any consultation with the author.
- Political in nature: While we welcome the discussion of policies and initiatives, it is not the place to discuss political parties and personalities, including directing abusive and/or derogatory comments towards any official or governing body.
- Misleading information or misinformation: Information that is false, unfounded or misleading, whether intentional or not, will be removed.
- An infringement of intellectual property rights: Respect and acknowledge original creators when sharing content.
- Spam or link baiting: We do not tolerate posts containing links to harmful or suspicious websites or applications.
- Personal information: As this is a public page, we will remove any posts that contain private information or personal details, such as email addresses or phone numbers.
- Personal information: For your privacy we will remove any post that contains any private information, whether accurate or alleged, about you or someone you know.
- Any violation of Facebook’s terms and conditions.
- The usage of laughing and/or angry emojis on posts we deem to be an inappropriate response in displaying a nature of hate , bullying or abuse towards any official, Director, the GBOTA, governing body, participant or race club.
If you breach any of the above guidelines, we may ban or block your account from our social media accounts, without any consultation. This includes any hateful, abusive and/or threatening direct messages sent to any of our social media accounts.
To create meaningful and valuable discussion, please stay on topic when replying or commenting on posts.
The GBOTA reserves the right to turn off comments on social media posts when moderators are not available to monitor comments, in accordance with these guidelines.
