MEDIA RELEASE
On Tuesday, 7th of October, representatives from the NSW Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association (NSW GBOTA) attended the Orange City Council meeting, where an extension for the proposed Orange Greyhound Track ,an initiative proudly led by the Association was considered.
The extension request was required due to unforeseen delays stemming from changes to bushfire management plan requirements. These changes, introduced after the original 18 month agreement to lodge a Development Application (DA), temporarily halted progress on finalising the necessary reports. Councillors at the meeting acknowledged that the delay occurred through no fault of the Association.
NSW GBOTA sought a 12 month extension to allow sufficient time for any further regulatory or environmental considerations that may arise. We were pleased, however, that Council approved a 6 month extension to enable the continued progression of this important project.
The NSW GBOTA remains fully committed to delivering the Orange Greyhound Track — a facility designed to support participants, strengthen regional racing opportunities, and provide long term community and economic benefits to the Central West region.
