Mackenna capped off a magical series of the Group One Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg on Saturday 20th April, 2024 at Wentworth Park. The Michelle Sultana-trained chaser led from start to finish from box two, remaining unbeaten throughout the series.
The daughter of Whiskey Riot and Alycone clocked another sizzling time of 29.33, saluting by 1.25 lengths over a gallant Zipping Megatron in second and Ferness ran the race of his life to place third. Mackenna was the only female greyhound in the field of eight and remains unbeaten after four starts, since returning from injury in February.
She sent tongues wagging in her heat, clocking the second fastest time ever recorded at the track of 29.20 over the 520m, with her performance on the clock in the final, the second fastest in history, behind Tommy Shelby (29.27). Her prizemoney total now sits at $389, 660, thanks to the $350,000 first-place prizemoney from her victory on Saturday.
