ROADMAP TO REHOMING

The GBOTA has created a step-by-step guide on the relevant forms and information needed in order to successfully rehome a greyhound in NSW.

STEP ONE: PREPARE YOUR GREYHOUND

This can be done by taking your Greyhound to be desexed/vaccinated/teeth cleaning.

STEP TWO: COMPLETE THIS FORM & TAKE TO YOUR LOCAL VET

***PLEASE NOTE*** It is highly recommended you also read the policy and ensure your greyhound is eligible for the scheme as you may have to cover the costs if it is not. The policy can be found here at the same link above.

***PLEASE NOTE*** Some vet clinics may request written approval from GRNSW prior to agreeing to do the greyhounds surgery.

STEP THREE: CONTINUE PREPARATION

This can be done during this period, such as getting the greyhound used to stairs, tiles, small dogs and possibly cats (pending on the dog).

***PLEASE NOTE*** The more work you do, the faster it is for greyhounds to be rehomed and not clog the rehoming system. GAP is a tool to assist with rehoming.

STEP FOUR: COMPLETE GAP ASSESSMENT AND INTAKE FORMS

🔸Follow the following link to fill out the forms (this will allow you to bring to GAP’s that you intend to use GAP for rehoming and are looking for assistance to liaise with your local co-ordinator.

***PLEASE NOTE** If GAP rehomes your greyhound whether it be domestically or internationally or if you rehome privately, you still need to notify GWIC of where the greyhound has gone. You can notify GWIC by using E-TRAC or complete the Retirement Notification Form, listed on this page https://www.gwic.nsw.gov.au/integrity/participant-forms
